How clients find me! Reiki Surry Hills

img_1637

I love how clients find me.

It seems mysterious but I suppose it’s not. After all, my website is pretty easy to find on Google. The closest train station to me is Central. There are a lot of people who live or work near Surry Hills.

But I still find it a bit magical. There are quite a few other reiki practitioners in Sydney (I’ve been working my way up the google rankings, and at the moment am halfway down the second page!).

So, it does require clients to find me somehow. During these last busy months, I’ve found that I’ve been getting good word of mouth, where clients are referring me to their friends, or even enthusiastically giving their friends treatments as gifts. One client treated two of his staff members. Another client sent her lawyer for a treatment. And another brought not one but both of her sisters!

I also have been building up a nice group of return clients. As you’ll know if you come for a treatment, I always send a follow-up email, and sometimes two, and try to keep in touch. At the same time, my clients are able to notice the positive changes and benefits for themselves, and then make the time to come in again when it feels right to have another treatment.

Most of my clients come from Google searches, and to add to that, a fair number have come in because of the positive reviews (thanks reviewers!). I can see that these clients are happy to do some research, and they want to make sure if they come in for a treatment that it’s a practice that is trusted and receives good feedback. I myself wouldn’t trust a business as much if they don’t have any reviews at all, and at the same time, I’ve noticed at least one other reiki business that has fake reviews (all the same language but different names of reviewers!). But I think people can spot fake reviews pretty easily.

I spend so much time on Facebook in my personal life that I thought that I might get clients from my Facebook page, but to tell the truth, I’m not sure if anyone’s ever come through Facebook, though I’ve had some enquiries.

A number of people come because it’s the most convenient location for them, since it’s pretty much walking distance from Potts Point, Darlinghurst, Redfern and even the city. Some clients have been visiting Sydney and staying in accommodation (or having meetings) close by). One client lives farther away but combines a treatment with visiting her parents who live closeby! But a recent client decided to treat herself to a few hours in the city and came all the way from the Shire.

Finally, it’s nice to know that clients come because they’ve visited my webpage and get a good feel from it. I’ve had a number of clients say that they liked the vibe of the site, or that they’d visited other reiki websites and didn’t really click with either the way reiki was described, or the reiki practitioners themselves. It’s not to say that one reiki practitioner will be better than another, but certainly if you like the energy that you get from my website (and Facebook page), then you’ll hopefully also like my energy in person. It’s important when having a treatment to be able to feel comfortable and safe.

In any case, however you find me, I’m glad! I look forward to seeing you for your next reiki treatment!

Clients come from all over Sydney to see me, and I’ve also had clients who are visiting Sydney from Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast come and see me while they’re here for business, conferences or meeting families. While it’s easiest to get to me from the CBD, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Kings Cross, Redfern and Potts Point, I’m pretty easy to get to from anywhere in Sydney.

The price of a reiki treatment (Reiki Surry Hills, Sydney)

As I officially started my reiki practice at the start of 2012, I’ve now been running for almost 5 years!

In that time, I’ve never raised my rates. I’ve always charged $60 for a treatment. I wanted to start off by making sure my treatments were affordable, and not more expensive than other reiki treatments or modalities like massage.

When I started, I also tried to convince clients to come in by offering $50 for a first treatment, or then, $50 for the second treatment. But I don’t think that particular technique worked, either to convince people to come back (if they came back, it was because they wanted reiki, not to get $10 off) or to try reiki (the price didn’t make much of a difference).

Lately, I had a few different clients tell me that my rates were too cheap, and especially in comparison to others.

And indeed, I checked online. There is a practicioner who charges $70 in Bondi but most are much more expensive, rising to $120 to $150 per treatment (which I think is really high).

So, dear clients and readers. It is time for a price increase. If you’ve noticed from the appropriate place on the website and on my Facebook page, the cost for the treatment is now $75.

Of course, if you’d really like a treatment and cost is an issue, then let’s discuss it, but I sense that $75 is still less expensive than most reiki treatments in Sydney, and is a fair price and affordable.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that while I’ve always told clients to expect to be here an hour for a 50 minute treatment, making sure that we’re in a relaxed and not rushed space always takes longer than an hour to settle in, and chat about the treatment afterwards.

I don’t have card facilities, so please bring cash (and exact change helps) but if it’s more convenient for you, let me know and we can arrange payment by bank transfer in advance.

Review: Helping to solve problems with reiki in Sydney

I think if someone wants certainty, then a reiki treatment won’t be quite right for them. Aside from setting the intent that a client will take from the client what she or he needs, there’s no guarantee that a treatment will fix a physical problem, or a worry or an issue.

But I guess that’s true of most treatments, or perhaps, most situations in life.

What I do know is that when clients give themselves the gift of a treatment, it means they are taking a positive step to do something good for themselves, and if they have an issue, a movement towards addressing that issue.

Relaxing, though perhaps problem-solving at the same time!

Relaxing, though perhaps problem-solving at the same time!

Then, by relaxing in a safe, healing space, even without the reiki, it’s a good thing for people. Most people are busy in their lives, have too much stress and don’t get enough sleep.

At the same time, I’m always pleased to hear back from clients about what their experience was. Here’s some comments from Lou, a new client. I love how her reiki treatment helped her work through some challenges and problems in her life, during the treatment, and we’ll see how it continues! I’ll ask Lou for some more feedback in the next days. Thanks, Lou, for your feedback:

‘I found it really interesting how I felt wide awake the whole time, but my mind, rather than racing (which it normally does) was very purposefully moving from challenge to challenge, and creating ways in which to solve them.  I felt very focused and calm during this process.’

Learn Reiki in Surry Hills

If you’ve been a client of mine, you’ve been to the suburb of Surry Hills in Sydney.

And if you’ve ever wanted to learn Reiki, here’s a great opportunity:

My teacher, Frans Steine, is teaching Level 1 of Reiki, in Surry Hills on 30–31 May 2015. It’s from 10am to 5pm both Saturday and Sunday at 99 Crown Street.

More information is here.

Frans is known as one of the world’s leading reiki teachers and practitioners and we’re really lucky to have him here in Australia. He travels the world where students are anxious to learn with him. These days, after the International House of Reiki’s studio in Newtown has closed, Frans teaches less often in Sydney (and more often in the Blue Mountains where he lives).

So, it’s a really good opportunity, if you live in Sydney, to be introduced to reiki from one of the best teachers around.

There are three levels of teaching in Reiki. This level, Shoden, is the first. You’ll learn meditation techniques and to treat yourself and others.

Reiki has been a great gift to my life; I’m clearer and stronger in myself, more able to deal with external problems, and my internal life is richer and more at peace. If you have any questions, just ask!

And there’s more information about reiki and Frans’ teaching at their website at the International House of Reiki.

Reiki Surry Hills on holidays, 27 Sept – 13 Oct 2013

Reiki Surry Hills is on holidays 27 Sept – 13 Oct 2013.

I’m off on holidays to Scandiwegia from tomorrow until 13 October. Back starting work on 14 October, possibly with a Swedish, Finnish or Danish accent, but probably not.

(I didn’t come back with an accent, but I loved the trip!)
